A closer look at Catholicism: A guide for Protestants

Father Bob Moran was concerned. It seemed that more and more of the young people he knew were being drawn out of Catholicism and into the excitement of evan gelical Protestantism. He did not deny the validity of their newfound faith, but he won-dered if they had adequately considered the recent revival of the Catholic Church. And so, with the rapid growth of evangelicalism and the continual breach between the beliefs of Catholics and Protestants, Father Moran decided to find out more about this group which was luring away members of his Cath olic flock.

Taking a year's sabbatical to study at Wheaton College in Illinois, Father Moran Immersed himself in the evangelical world. As a member of the priestly order Congregation of Saint Paul (CSP), he was dedicated to teach-ing others about Catholicism. But it seemed to him that he would be more fitted to the task if he first learned about evangelicalism. And as new Protestant friends who shared their beliefs with him urged him to describe his own faith to Protestants, Father Moran began to see his task in a new light. A CLOSER LOOK AT CATHOLICISM is his attempt to bridge the gap of misunderstanding between Catho lics and Protestants which has continued to widen through the centuries. With precision and clarity. Father Moran explains to Protes-tants what Catholics belleve and why, taking a closer look at the Catholic view of:
