"The growing concern our society has for our mounting environmental crisis has required us to rethink our basic cultural models. Simkins does this by reexamining the established scholarly views of Biblical creation. Too often this material has been used to justify exploitation (based on the prin-ciple of subjugation) of nature and natural resources. It has also spawned a rejection of Biblical principles as promoting such exploitation.
