<note>I have written this book for those who haven't thought much about how their Christian faith relates to the chief moral issue of our time the nuclear arms race and the dreadful prospect of nu dear war I've attempted to cut through the foggy technical järgon and say things in a down-to-earth manner

The New Testament theme of hope threads its way thr ah many of the somber lines of this book. Although we rest in the confidence that God will ultimately triumph over the evil powers that hold sway in a nuclear age, this does not free us as Christians from facing up to our responsibility

The issue is here and the time is now for the body of Christ to join hands in a worldwide peace witness. This could be the church's glorious hour. But a dream is only a dream until we act. Will we act or will we run away?
