<note>Robert A. Morey.

Christian pacificism has always been a controversial issue, Nuclear technology and political unrost has stirred up further interest in recent years. Questions regarding Jesus' meaning when He talked about "turning the other cheek," and discussions about whether warfare is ever justifiable or whether the New Testament prohibits all forms of self-defense, have left man Christians confused. Dr. Morey examines some common paerfist positions in the light of Scripture and Churen history. Henas discovered that:

Jesus' teachings in the New Testament do not exclude the necessity for defense and possibly even war.

Many church fathers from the First Century through the Reformation did not condemn participation in military service.

There are scriptural answers to the commonly voiced arguments which promote pacificism as the only Christian response to tyrannical and sociological forces.</note>
