<note>editor, Bruce Nicholls.

Today evangelicals are rediscovering the biblical call to social action as an expression of Christian love. As a result, they face some challenging questions. Does the "new" insight imply a break with the traditional evangelical view of mission? How does it compare with the under-standing promoted by the World Council of Churches? Is social action a form of evangelism or an aid to it or a consequence of it? Is it a function of the church cor-porately or a responsibility for individual Christians? These are some of the issues examined in this volume, which contains papers and responses from the International Consultation on the Relationship between Evangelism and Social Responsibility

co-sponsored in 1982 by the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization and the World Evangelical Fellowship. The book presents a unique range of attitudes and viewpoints among evangelicals from six continents, including Tokunboh Adeyemo, Peter Beyerhaus, Peter Kuzmic, Vinay Samuel, and Ronald Sider.</note>
