<note>Baptism and Eucharist: Ecumenical Convergence in Celebration brings

together a wide selection of liturgies of baptism and the eucharist, with com-mentaries on the traditions and the texts included. It is intended "to help theologians and church leaders both to assess the current understanding and practice of baptism and the Lord's Supper... and to agree on what still re-mains necessary to attain complete consensus". The book will also be an in-valuable resource for theological schools and seminaries.

Included in the book is the "Lima Liturgy" used for the ecumenical eucharist at the WCC Assembly in Vancouver.

The appearance of the book is particularly timely in view of the process of response by the churches, already under way, to the WCC Faith and Order Commission's convergence text on Baptism, Eucharist and Ministry.

Dr Geoffrey Wainwright teaches theology at Duke University, North Carolina, USA, and Brother Max Thurian, of the Taizé Community in France, is Study Adviser to the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches.</note>
