Religious education, catechesis, and freedom

Kenneth R. Barker. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, CATECHESIS, AND FREEDOM is a fine examination of the different responses given by religious educationists and catechetical leaders to the call to freedom issued by the church and the world.

In the first part of the book, Kenneth Barker examines some of the more important historical antecedents of the current religious educational emphasis on freedom. In the second part of the book, Barker delineates the role of freedom in each of the several major types of theory such as the psychological type, the political type, and the cultural type.

The final part of the book is devoted exclusively to catechesis and freedom as catechesis is elaborated by the official Catholic church.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION, CATECHESIS, AND FREEDOM is one of the most comprehensive treatments of this important theme.
