History in the making: An introduction to the study of the past

This explicitly Christian approach to the study of history looks at the role of historians and their part in recording history. The author points to the fact that it is important to discern the assumptions, values and personal judgements that color these historical records. He briefly examines traditional ways of looking at the past, asking such questions as: Is history merely an endless series of cycles or does it suggest direction? What is the role of great men and women? Is it the story of human progress or class conflict, or the propaganda of victors? His aim is to teach readers to look for God's role in the drama of the past and to examine and evaluate past events in terms of the truth of the Christian faith.
